If an organization wants to allow their nurses to send prescriptions (renewals only) they would set:

  • Preference -> Medication -> Non-Scheduled Meds Order Authorization Request = Not Required
  • Preference -> Medications/Orders -> Enable Rx-Order Verification = No for the Users
  • Security Code to Nurse Security Classification = Can Renew
    • If a nurse is allowed to send renewals and that includes Sched II drugs they would also need the security code: Med Order Protocol

If they wanted their nurses/staff to start New Rx’s that would send a task to the provider to authorize they would set:

  • Preference – Medication -> Non-Scheduled Meds Order Authorization Request = No Required
