Security Code value Version Description
Authorize Non Formulary Prescribing: This is assigned to users who can authorize a non-formulary medication.
This authorization is required in the ‘Prescribe Non Formulary Authorization Req’ gate is set to ‘Y’.
Break Glass If given this code, allows users to override document viewing security.
Can Prescribe This allows users to prescribe medication within the TouchWorks application.
Users given this code without the appropriate level of prescribing authority can start a prescription to be authorized by the ordering physician.
Can Renew If given this code, allows users to renew a medication. A user with ‘Can Renew’, but not ‘Can Prescribe’ will not be able to alter a medication dosage.
Can Reprint/Resend RX Controls the ability to print subsequent copies of a previously printed perscription or to resend a prescription
electronically to a pharmacy.
CanCSInvalid When assigned to a user this code allows the user to invalidate RTF clinical summaries and visit summary CED's.
The user must also have the Chart-Edit security code.
Chart-Alert-Edit If given this code, allows the user to edit a Chart Alert. This may be something like “contact precaution” and
are visible to all users who are give ‘Chart Alert View’.
Chart-Alert-View: If given this code, allows the user to view a chart alert.
CDSExcludeOneProv Enables users to exclude patients from Point of Care (POC)recommendations only for the provider
who owns the recommendation.
CDSSuppress Enables users to suppress Point of Care (POC)recommendations.
Chart-Edit: If given this code, allows user to edit patient charts.
Chart Download Permits the download of a patient chart through Download Chart.
Chart-Print If given this code, allows the user to print or fax individual documents from the patient chart.

Dictate Monitor Administration Any TouchWorks user can log in and use Dictate Monitor, but those given the security code
Dictate Monitor Administration will be able to see any dictations. Those without the code will only

Doc Change Limits the amount of change to a document type. Document types with this code
can be viewed by all users, but edited only by the owner.
Doc Change Shared Limits the amount of change to a document type. Document types with this code
can be viewed by all users, but only edited by those within the same Security Classification.
This is enforced by the database and CANNOT be turned off.
Document-Invalidate This allows the user to invalidate a note. If turned off the user will
not be able to invalidate in any of these areas: ChartViewer, Note, Document,
Completion Tasks, and Manage Document.
Document-Invalidate-Without-Finalization-Authority When assigned, irrespective of the Finalization Authority level of the
user (compared to the Finalization Authorityof the Note) the user can Invalidate the Note.
Document-Management Allows the user to make changes to existing notes outside the “note life cycle”.
Document-Reconcile Allows the user to correct errors of inbound unstructured notes.
Employee & Family Patient Access: Forces users without access to a patient entered in a security group to enter a
password in order to view this patient’s chart.

EReply Allows users to send messages to patients through Allscripts Patient Portal.
Interface Error Queue Edit Allows you to edit information on the Error Queue page as well as pages

a frequency program, importing an Allscripts mapping file, and configure problem search location.
