E-prescribing uses the Surescripts network to transmit prescriptions electronically to the pharmacy.
Data exchange with Allscripts
Surescripts exchanges data with Allscripts to allow prescriptions written in the EHR to flow through the Surescripts network. Data also flows into Allscripts, such as script requests.
Installation
Downtime
If your Allscripts system is down, say for an upgrade, any messages from the Surescripts network will queue up and import into Allscripts once the servers are back online.
