Configuring General Internet Explorer Options

• Allscripts recommended settings

1. Open Internet Explorer, Select: Tools > Internet Options
2. On General tab > Temporary Internet files:
   1. click Settings (located under browsing history for IE7)
   2. set the option for “Check for newer versions of stored pages:” to “Automatic”
3. Save your new configuration by clicking Apply and OK
4. Install the ActiveX controls for Touchworks EHR per your preferred method – Push Technology strongly suggested

Configuring Advanced Internet Explorer Options

1. Open Internet Explorer, Select: Tools > Internet Options
2. On Advanced tab, click Restore Defaults
3. Ensure “Enable third-party browser extensions” is checked
4. Ensure “Use smooth scrolling” is unchecked (for performance reasons)
5. Uncheck "Do not save encrypted pages to disk"
6. Optional:
   1. Uncheck “Disable script debugging”
   2. Uncheck “Show friendly HTTP error messages”

Note: Optional settings are helpful in troubleshooting problems/errors within Touchworks EHR

Add Touchworks EHR URL(s) to Trusted Sites

1. Open Internet Explorer, Select: Tools > Internet Options
2. Click on the Security Tab and select Trusted Sites
3. Click Sites
4. Type in your Touchworks EHR URL and click Add
5. Click Close
