Description

The Resultable Item dictionary is the client's list of items that can be resulted and displayed in the EHR. These can be resulted by the user or through an interface from various labs.

Detail 1

Display Name- indicates the display name for the resultable item.

Answer Data Type- enforced entry that indicates the type of answer data for the resultable item. The options are: Text, Date/Time, and Numeric. If the answer data type is set to Numeric then the Precision and Increment boxes display.

Precision- the number of decimal points that is allowable for this resultable item.

Increment- only applies to manually entered results. The allowable increments above or below the precision. Allows for room based on the machines that are recording the values. The values are stored as text, not digits.

Minimum Allowable Value- indicates the minimum value allowed for this resultable item. This only applies to Numeric data types.

Maximum Allowable Value- indicates the maximum value allowed for this resultable item. This only applies to Numeric data types.

Unit Picklist- indicates the picklist for units that are associated with this resultable item. Allscripts delivers a basic starter set for the enforced entries, and clients can define additional values. This is used for manually entered results.

Default Units of Measure- indicates the default unit of measure for the resultable item.

LOINC ID- indicates the LOINC ID from the OCD dictionary which is updated in accordance with LOINC. This applies to all data types

• Code - The Code is a unique identifier that must be supplied. This is not displayed in the product and is used for identification purposes only.
• Name - This is the name that will appear for the end users in the EHR application. This should be unique to prevent confusion.
• Mnemonic - This is not required, but it used as a secondary identifier. This does not appear in the product and unless you have another use for it, the recommendation would be to make this the same as the code.
• Inactive - The inactive flag allows you to inactivate or hide an entry. If an item is inactivated, users would not have the ability to select the allergen in the future, although any patients with the allergen defined would remain viewable.
• Enforced - The enforced flag designates whether a dictionary item is required and cannot be changed. In most cases, this comes predefined by Allscripts and should not be selected for new entries. If an entry is enforced, it cannot be modified or inactivated.
