Nurses can renew prescriptions

What if a site wishes to keep their current policies and procedures in place for nurses to renew medication per a standing order or protocol?

This question comes up inevitably when implementing Rx. Nurses currently have a standing order or protocol from their provider allowing them to renew specific medications. The provider still needs to sign off on the Rx renewal, but can do so after the fact, per protocol.

The workflow would be -

The patient calls in -> -> The nurse gathers the information for the Rx renewal -> -> The Rx falls under protocol -> -> The nurse calls in the Rx and enters it in the EHR with the action type of "Call Rx" -> -> A task is generated to the physician for approval.
