Galen is excited that you're coming to town for HIMSS15! Our Chicago Office put together a list of Good Eats and a short list of top things to do for visitors. At Galen, we strongly believe in sharing our success and giving back to our community. One of our driving tenets is “Perpetually Learn and Share”. Furthermore, we foster a collaborative environment where this experience and knowledge is communicated to the entire team. This has been instrumental to our success and ensures that, when working with a Galen team member, our partners gain full access to the resources that define our organization.

Cheaper Eats….

Portillos Hot Dogs

Pizzeria Uno – will likely be an hour+ wait, but you can’t go wrong here for Chicago style pizza (Pizzeria Due is the same thing, and across the street)

  • 3.5 miles from McCormick

Eataly – Giant Italian grocery store and restaurants. Designed and opened by Mario Batali

Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder – Like a pizza pot pie. If you are headed to Wrigley, a great local spot to consider. No reservations required, but there could be a wait….but well worth it. Also – it’s right across the street from the famed “St. Valentine’s Day Massacre”

More Expensive Eats….

RPM Italian – One of Chicago’s premier hotspots, with great Italian food. Co-owned by the Rancic’s. Make reservations in advance, because they are hard to get.

Chicago Cut – Great steakhouse in a city full of great steak. Also has a great view of the river.

Girl & The Goat – Great dinner by Stephanie Izard of Top Chef fame. Located in the West Loop, with tons of great restaurants. Also needs advance planning.

Things to do….

Shedd Aquarium – An amazing destination on the museum campus. Aquarium overlooks the lake.

Wrigley Field – Home of the Cubbies. This year is our year!

  • 8.4 miles from McCormick

Chicago Architecture Foundation – River tour going through Chicago’s amazing architecture.

Fun Places to Eat & Drink.....

Untitled – A great space for eating or grabbing a drink. Usually there is a show going on of various sorts that is fun. Jazz, cabaret, etc. It’s always random and quite entertaining.

Hub 51 – Good food and drinks in the heart of River North. Lots of TV’s for sports fans.

Three Dots and a Dash – A Tiki bar in Chicago. Wildly popular and a great place to grab a fun drink. Plan in advance for reservations!

Howl at the Moon – Everyone who has attended a conference before knows this one. Touristy Piano bar with lots of energy.

Mercadito - Reccomended on twitter by Ali Mondragon (@alivsworld) for thier delish green drinks!
