Overview

  • Provide steps for setting up (AOM) Ambulatory Order Management.

AOM General Setup

Dictionaries Used

  • Acute MIS Order Source - Defines the order source non-physician users can use to indicate how a doctor communicates orders (Info Systems > MIS > Dictionaries > Clinical > Order Source)
  • Ambulatory MIS Order Source - Adds additional details (customize) Order Sources (Info Systems > MIS Database > Clinical Dictionaries (F-O) > Order Sources (Linked) > Edit)
  • AOM Rules - Defines the rules for ordering; Create specific warnings or requirements. Used in conjunction with AOM Customer Parameters Dictionary (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Rules > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Print Forms - Build ordering print forms. These must first be built using the Report Writer application. Standard forms are available; customize as needed (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Print Forms > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Canned Text - Create canned text for allergies, comments, prescriptions and referrals (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Canned Text > Enter/Edit)

Medication Setup

Dictionaries Used

  • AOM Refill Period - Create refill periods and tie to AOM Customer Parameters Dictionary (e-prescribing does not allow alpha refill periods) (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Refill Period > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Rules - Evaluate and define drug rules (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Rules > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Drugs - View information from a formulary drug load (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Drugs > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Customer Parameters - Define a drug CDS and prescription instruction maximum length/width (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Customer Parameters > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM User Defaults - Defines user preference and favorites (Clinical > Ambulatory Dictionary > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > User Defaults > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Call Status - Create call-in status entries (Clinical > Ambulatory Dictionary > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Call Status> Enter/Edit)
  • Ambulatory MIS Interaction/Conflict Group - Define an interaction/conflict group (Info Systems > Dictionaries (F-O) > Interaction/Conflict Groups > Enter/Edit)

Orders Setup

Dictionaries Used

  • Acute MIS Location - Build treatment locations within the HCIS; All MPM location entries/edits completed here as there is no access to the Ambulatory MIS Location Dictionary (Info Systems > MIS > Dictionaries > Administrative > Location)
  • Ambulatory MIS Outside Locations - Build treatment locations outside the HCIS (Pharmacies, Lab/Rad locations) (Info Systems > MIS > Dictionaries F-O) > Outside Locations > Enter/Edit)
  • Ambulatory MIS Group Response - Build order group responses (Info Systems > MIS Database > Custom Defined Routines > Group Responses > Enter/Edit)
  • Ambulatory MIS Query - Build order queries; (Info Systems > MIS Database > Custom Defined Routines > Queries > Enter/Edit) You must map the Ambulatory MIS queries used to acute MIS queries for the following:

  • Ambulatory MIS Customer Defined Screen - Build customer defined screens (Info Systems > MIS Database > Custom Defined Routines > Screens > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Order Period - Define order periods (instead of using the specific service calendar date) (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Rules - Define rules for diagnostic procedures (If rules are created for ancillary applications, similar rules must be created on the ambulatory side) (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Rules > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Procedure - Set up procedures to define general info for diagnostic procedures

Orders Setup: Office Procedures

Dictionaries Used

  • Acute MIS Location - Build treatment locations within the HCIS; same for office procedures and injections as diagnostic procedures (Info Systems > MIS > Dictionaries > Administrative > Location)
  • Ambulatory MIS Outside Locations - Build treatment locations outside the HCIS; same as diagnostic procedures (Info Systems > MIS > Dictionaries F-O) > Outside Locations > Enter/Edit)
  • Ambulatory MIS Group Response - Build order group responses; same as diagnostic procedures but queries associated don't need to be mapped (Info Systems > MIS Database > Custom Defined Routines > Group Responses > Enter/Edit)
  • Ambulatory MIS Customer Defined Screen - Build customer defined screens; same as diagnostic procedures but queries don't need to be mapped (Info Systems > MIS Database > Custom Defined Routines > Screens > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Order Period - Define order periods; same as diagnostic procedures (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Enter/Edit)

  • AOM Procedure - Set up referral orders

Order Groups, Order Sets, Favorite Sets Setup

Dictionaries Used

  • AOM Order Sets - Defines order sets; Prescriptions/Procedures (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Order Sets > Enter/Edit)
  • AOM Order Groups - Defines order groups for category searches in AOM (Clinical > Ambulatory Order Management > Dictionaries > RXM Dictionaries > Order Group > Enter/Edit); must tie users to the AOM User Access Dictionary and set up AOM Procedure Dictionary in advance
