System Level Preferences:

System level preferences generally are not changed and it is at this point of your upgrade that you need to ask yourself if there are any changes needed based on the new v11.2 workflows. If there are no changes needed, then this line of the Build Workbook can be marked as non-applicable. If there are indeed changes that need to be made, you can go forth with the changes and note them as items that can be configured in SSMT during Go-Live Weekend.


System-level Admin preferences are accessed from the Admin workspace in Allscripts Enterprise EHR.


Best practice: Do not click Preferences on the vertical toolbar of the Admin workspace to access preferences. Instead, access through Systems.

1. From the workspace drop-down list, select Admin.

2. On the vertical toolbar, click Systems.

3. Click the Preferences tab. The Select System page displays.

4. Click the System ID to select a system. The System Preferences page displays.

5. Change the values for the preferences you want to set. If a selection is not made for a preference for this system, the application uses the framework-level setting for the preference.

6. Click Save.


FingerprintAuthMedAdmin

Sets the requirement for fingerprint authentication of the authorized user who is performing a medication administration or immunization to transition it from Hold for Admin status to Complete. Fingerprint authentication in conjunction with password entry provides re-authentication as another level of security for administering medications and immunizations. This type of authorization is done by scanning the user's fingerprint with a biometric reader.

FingerprintAuthNote

Sets the requirement for fingerprint authentication of the authorized user who is signing a note document. Fingerprint authentication in conjunction with password entry provides re-authentication as another level of security for signing documents. This type of re-authentication is done by scanning the user's fingerprint with a biometric reader.

FingerprintAuthOrder

Sets the requirement for fingerprint authentication of the authorized user who is ordering a non-medication. Fingerprint authentication in conjunction with password entry provides re-authentication as another level of security for ordering items. This type of authorization is done by scanning the user's fingerprint with a biometric reader.

FingerprintAuthRx

Sets the requirement for fingerprint authentication of the authorized user who is prescribing a medication (new or renewed). Fingerprint authentication in conjunction with password entry provides re-authentication as another level of security for prescribing medications. This type of authentication is done by scanning the user's fingerprint with a biometric reader.

WorksUser

Indicates that the user is an Allscripts Enterprise EHR, and not just a Physician Homebase user.

ChgWorksDefaultToPastDX

Determines whether the past diagnosis list for the patient displays as the default when the user accesses the Diagnosis Selector from the Charge workspace.

ChgWorksDisplayOnSubmit

Determines what area of the application displays when the Submit button is clicked from the Encounter Form.

ChgWorksDisplayOrderProcChg

Determines whether an order displays by Display Name or Entry Code on the Procedure Charge Selector. The user can change this setting by clicking Personalize on the Procedure Charge Selector and selecting a value from the Display Charge Codes in selector box drop-down list.

ChgWorksDisplayOrderVisitChg

Determines whether an order displays by Display Name or Entry Code on the Visit Charge Selector. The user can change this setting by clicking Personalize on the Visit Charge Selector and selecting a value from the Display Charge Codes in selector box drop-down list.

ChgWorksEnableFreeTextDx

Indicates that the Charge Free Text Diagnosis feature is enabled. This feature enables users to enter one free text diagnosis (that is, text not associated with a valid ICD-9 code) for each encounter. Encounters with free text diagnoses have a status of Review, and the system creates reconcile tasks when they are saved.

ChgWorksHoldForMoreDefault

Determines whether the Hold for More Charges option defaults to selected or cleared on the Encounter Form.
