EDM Toolbox Parameters

  • In the EDM Toolbox Parameters, set the “Keep DC Meds in Active Sort for # Hrs” for the number of hours you would like discontinued medications to remain on the MAR after the Date and Time they DC.
  • This also controls how long a DC’d IV remains available to pull into the IV Flowsheet by using the IV “Special instance” type.
  • Also, in the EDM toolbox, set the “IV Flowsheet Key” to either “Order Type” or “Route of Administration.” IN the MED documentation Workload dictionary, you can define which “Order Types” or “Routes” are used for IV’s.

(These parameters match the PCS Toolbox Parameters, you can either set them the same or different depending on your process for inpatient or outpatient. If using “Route of Administration” in the PCS toolbox for the IV flowsheet, use the same method in EDM since there is only one medication documentation workload dictionary.)

Medication Documentation/Workload Dictionary

Add all of the “Routes of Administration” that you want the system to consider IV’s here (this could also be “Order Type” depending on the PCS/EDM Toolbox Parameter settings)

  • Once the documentation section is built, attach it to the intervention you want to document upon the patients discharge in the intervention dictionary.
  • On the “Rules” tab of the documentation section dictionary, set the “IV Stop Time” query to “Require Always.”
