Attempting to install any version earlier than 4.09.00.079 will result in an error in the JDBCtest.log file:

Winscribe
As of Version 3.7 Winscribe is not officially supported with SQL Server 2005. The following speaks to possible workarounds and setup considerations Winscribe Setup Considerations, but is recommended to stay on SQL 2000 for production.
